Official information · application cycle with a 5 January 2027 deadline
What MIT asks for in MIT Sloan Master of Finance
Taken from the MIT Sloan Master of Finance programme, admissions and how-to-apply pages, read on 3 November 2026. The pages list a 5 January 2027 deadline and do not state the entry year in a labelled field; confirm the entry term and every date on the pages before you rely on it.
Early-career applicants with a degree
The programme is designed for recent graduates and early-career professionals prepared for a rigorous, quantitative curriculum. Applicants must hold a four-year undergraduate degree, or a three-year equivalent from outside the United States, by the time of matriculation.
Quantitative coursework and Python
Applicants list coursework in linear algebra, multivariable calculus, probability and statistics. The school prefers demonstrated proficiency in Python, and admitted students without it need to show it before matriculation.
Tests optional, no English exam
A standardised test such as the GMAT or GRE is optional, and applicants without a score are reviewed as they are. The school does not require or accept TOEFL or IELTS; English is assessed during the interview.
Letters, short answers, CV and two videos
Three letters of recommendation, one from someone who can speak to your quantitative abilities; three short answers of 200 words or fewer; a one-page résumé; and two video responses, the second to a randomly generated question that can be recorded only once.
One deadline: 5 January 2027
The pages list a deadline of 5 January 2027 at 3:00 p.m. ET, with decisions in March 2027. Interviews are required and offered by invitation only.
18 months, or 12 if accelerated
The curriculum is 18 months with an option to accelerate to 12, with optional concentrations in five areas.
