Undergraduate · Yale College
Yale College admits students without a declared major, and Global Affairs is one of its majors, run by the Jackson School of Global Affairs. The school's page says students are accepted into the major, that the requirements were updated for students accepted from fall 2025, and that advanced majors can write a thesis or complete a capstone for an external partner. For an A-level or IB applicant, this means the application is to Yale College, with the major following. This guide claims no separate application to Global Affairs.

The major
The Jackson School says the major provides multidisciplinary training in addressing global challenges, drawing on approaches from across the social sciences and humanities and on the ability to translate between scholarship and practice. Courses sit in nearly all Yale departments. The major's requirements were updated, and the update applies only to students accepted into the major from fall 2025. Advanced majors may write a senior thesis, or complete the Capstone Course, whose enrolment requests take place in the spring of the junior year.
Is it the right major?

you want deeper methods in one social science. Yale's majors page lists these separately.
you are weighing a named course against a liberal-arts model: UK courses admit you to the subject; Yale admits you to the College.
Testing and qualifications
Yale requires first-year applicants to submit SAT or ACT scores. International applicants complete the same application with the same requirements. The pages read do not mention A-levels or the IB by name, and this guide states no score.

Support
Avandy provides independent academic and admissions support. It is not affiliated with Yale College or any of its colleges or departments. Preparation sits within the Avandy Trinity Advisory Model: a Strategic Admissions Consultant, a PhD-level Academic Mentor and a Subject-specific Tutor, working to the actual requirements of each course. Support here is limited to understanding the requirements and planning the applicant's own work; Avandy does not write or edit essays, does not submit any materials and has no partnership with Yale College. No outcome is promised.
