Imperial Biochemistry with Management: a business year after the science

Imperial's Biochemistry with Management BSc adds a final year with the Imperial Business School to the department's biochemistry teaching, and can be studied over three or four years. It asks for Chemistry, makes the ESAT compulsory with Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology modules, and generally holds no interview. The decision is whether the business year is what you want from a biochemistry degree.

The degree

Biochemistry with a commercial dimension

Imperial says the first two years explore the fundamentals of biological chemistry, molecular biology, integrative cell biology and genes and genomics, and also consider the commercial side of the biochemistry and biotechnology industries: commercialising technology, entrepreneurship, and intellectual property. A Life Science Skills programme trains students in quantitative skills, programming, statistics and scientific writing. The final year, with the Business School, builds expertise in accounting, entrepreneurship and marketing.
