A three-year BSc, B101
Delivered by the School of Medicine; Imperial describes a research-intensive, laboratory-focused curriculum.
Undergraduate · Imperial Medical Biosciences
Imperial's Medical Biosciences BSc is taught within the School of Medicine, but it is not a route to becoming a doctor. It is a three-year, research-intensive degree in biomedical science, with a final-year project and an associateship of the Imperial College School of Medicine. It uses no test and generally no interview. The decision is whether you want biomedical research rather than clinical training.

The A-level standard is AAA including A in Biology or Human Biology and A in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics or Physics. The IB standard is 38 points with 6 in Biology at Higher Level.
Imperial says the course does not require a test and that, generally, the department does not hold interviews.
Students choose a 20-week laboratory project, a 14-week literature project or a 14-week work placement.

The degree
Imperial says the first two years build fundamental human biology and the molecular basis of disease, with laboratory teaching modelled on a research lab. In the final year students run a project of their own, in a laboratory, from the literature or on a work placement, and choose from optional specialist modules. Imperial also describes an MRes scholarship open only to students on this degree, funded by an industry partner.
Is it the right degree?
The School of Medicine teaches several undergraduate degrees, and the entry rules differ.
you want a research career in biomedical science, policy or industry.
you want to qualify as a doctor. Avandy's Imperial Medicine guide covers a route with its own tests and interviews.
you want engineering applied to medicine. Avandy's Imperial Biomedical Engineering guide covers it.
Entry rules
A-level applicants need AAA including A in Biology or Human Biology and A in Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics or Physics, plus another subject; the typical offer is AAA. IB applicants need 38 points with 6 in Biology and a second science at Higher Level. There is no test, and generally no interview. This page states no scores.
A decision framework
This is Avandy's own framework, not Imperial's.
That is the dividing line from Medicine.
The final-year project can be laboratory-based, literature-based or a placement.
It is required at A level and Higher Level.
Planning for 2028 entry
Applying for 2028 entry means applying in 2027, under rules Imperial has not yet published for that cycle. Each item below carries one of two labels. Last verified for 2027 entry means Imperial published it for the previous cycle and it may change. Awaiting publication for 2028 entry means Imperial has not yet published it.
These are the best guide to what to prepare. Imperial has not confirmed them for 2028 entry.
Check Imperial's course page for the 2028-entry values when they appear.
Decide between research and clinical routes, and confirm Biology and a second science.
Support
Avandy provides independent academic and admissions support. It is not affiliated with Imperial College London or any of its colleges or departments. Preparation sits within the Avandy Trinity Advisory Model: a Strategic Admissions Consultant, a PhD-level Academic Mentor and a Subject-specific Tutor, working to the actual requirements of each course. Support here means course-fit advice, subject mentoring and ethical preparation; Avandy gives no scores or probabilities and does not supply interview or test questions. No outcome is promised.
