UCAS Y004, three years
A three-year BASc in UCL Arts and Sciences, based at UCL's Bloomsbury campus in London.
Undergraduate · UCL Arts and Sciences
UCL's Arts and Sciences BASc is a three-year interdisciplinary degree in which students apply to a major pathway, here Sciences and Engineering, and combine it with a minor, a Core taught by the Arts and Sciences department and a modern foreign language. It asks for Mathematics and one other Science. The decision for an applicant is whether they want a science or engineering major inside a broad interdisciplinary frame rather than a single-subject degree.
Official information · last verified for 2027 entry

For a normal 2028-entry application, made in 2027, every requirement below is last verified for the previous cycle and may change; UCL's 2028-entry requirements and dates are awaiting publication.
A three-year BASc in UCL Arts and Sciences, based at UCL's Bloomsbury campus in London.
The A-level requirement is A*AA, with Mathematics and one other Science required, and GCSE English Language and Mathematics at grade B or 6.
IB 39 points, with a total of 19 points in three higher level subjects including 6 in Mathematics and one other Science, and either Mathematics course accepted at higher level.
UCL says students study a modern foreign language throughout, from beginner level or continuing a previous language.
In the final year students complete an interdisciplinary or creative practice dissertation and take the Knowledge Economy module.
Official sources
Read on 31 October 2026 on UCL's Arts and Sciences (Sciences and Engineering) BASc course page (a saved copy that UCL labels as possibly not showing recent changes), which describes 2027 entry. UCL's department pages, the fees pages, the contextual-offer details and the 2028-entry values were not read, and the page lists no admissions test or interview so none is stated and are not stated.
The course
UCL says the course offers specialist modules from across UCL and an interdisciplinary Core that teaches the skills and concepts needed to work across disciplines, and explores the conceptual and methodological differences between arts, social science and science subjects. In the first year students take five Core modules, Mathematical Methods for Arts and Sciences from the major, two more major modules and one minor module. A language runs throughout. The page read lists the major pathway subjects but this guide does not describe individual modules beyond those it quotes.
Is it the right degree?
UCL offers the single-subject routes separately.
you want a mathematics-based science or engineering major together with a minor, a language and interdisciplinary core modules.
you want depth in one discipline from the start. Avandy's UCL Natural Sciences guide covers a different UCL science route.
this degree asks for Mathematics and one other Science, whichever pathway subject you hope to specialise in.
Entry rules
The A-level requirement is A*AA, with Mathematics and one other Science required. The IB requirement is 39 points, with 19 points in three higher level subjects including 6 in Mathematics and one other Science. UCL's page lists no admissions test or interview. This page states no scores.
A decision framework
This is Avandy's own framework, not UCL's.
It is a required Core element.
You apply to the pathway, so the choice is made at application.
Both are required.
Planning for 2028 entry
Applying for 2028 entry means applying in 2027, under rules UCL has not yet published for that cycle. Each item below carries one of two labels. Last verified for 2027 entry means UCL published it for the previous cycle and it may change. Awaiting publication for 2028 entry means UCL has not yet published it.
These are the best guide to what to prepare. UCL has not confirmed them for 2028 entry.
Check UCL's course page for the 2028-entry values when they appear.
Confirm the required subjects, read the course structure and plan your preparation around it.
Support
Avandy provides independent academic and admissions support. It is not affiliated with University College London or any of its colleges or departments. Preparation sits within the Avandy Trinity Advisory Model: a Strategic Admissions Consultant, a PhD-level Academic Mentor and a Subject-specific Tutor, working to the actual requirements of each course. Support here means course-fit advice, subject mentoring and ethical preparation; Avandy gives no scores or probabilities and does not write applications. No outcome is promised.
